Let’s talk Wildwood, where the illustrations are as stunning as the book itself. Imagine an epic bedtime story with some serious Winnie the Pooh vibes, but with a darker twist. This is one of those books that you might read a chapter of every night... but maybe skip a few if you're tucking in young kids. Why? Well, between the stunning drawings, we’ve got some surprisingly heavy themes—think authoritarianism 🏛️, land development wiping out native species 🌿, and human blood sacrifices. 😳
The Good:
Those illustrations? Chef's kiss. 🎨 Seriously, this book could double as a coffee table piece in a nursery or playroom. It’s a work of art, plain and simple.
We get some POV snippets from Alexandra, the evil dowager governess (because what’s a fantasy without a power-hungry villain, am I right? 👑).
The Not-So-Good:
The story didn’t really grab me. I wanted to be pulled into this magical world, but instead, it felt like a 2-star experience ⭐⭐. Maybe if you love nature, uncharted lands, and fairytales, this will be your jam. For me? Meh.
