holiday 101 - I found the best travel planner?!?

are you a type-A girlie who needs to get everything planned down to the minute, but also kinda lazy sometimes to do up a super-detailed excel??? because SAME!!!

I'm the dedicated planner in the family/friend group, and no complains here because honestly I LOVE to do it, nothing quite scratches an itch like noting down the places to go, checking through opening hours and making sure the route makes sense 😩🤌🏻

SO!!!! I found this itinerary planner called Holicay, honestly it is so good for us type-A girlies, AND HERE'S WHY

1. Easy addition of location 📍

- powered by google maps, it's easy to add places/shops that can be found on google (and that's almost every other place

- you can see the distance between locations (very good for gauging the time needed to travel between places)

- most of the times I make reservations for popular food places, so knowing where each of them are, and how far apart the places are, helps me to plan my journey there! 100% do not wanna be late and end up having to queue 1hr for dinner 😮‍💨

2. synced calendar views (pic 2) 📆

- you can easily toggle between viewing the detailed itinerary and viewing just the top line details (location, time etc)

- VERY convenient, sometimes we just wanna have a quick glance without switching apps!!

- love the calendar view tbh it's giving ✨outlook calendar✨

3. expense tracker (pic 3) 📊

- I also love to plan my expenses before the trip, so I know what to expect and how to not overspend (hard but doable)

- you can add specific costs (can just take avg from reviews/google) to restaurant visits etc and the website will collate the expenses based on type!!

- very good for group planning so everyone knows how much to contribute!

- also especially good to have the automated split between different categories, because sometimes my friends would give me a budget and it works well for them to know how much they're spending on accoms, flight and food etc

4. color-coded map (pic 4) 🗾

- honestly one of the BEST features and I wished I discovered it sooner

- detailed planners will always know the pain of having a million different things marked on the maps but not being able to plan out efficiently because everything looks so clustered, but once it's color-coded??? MAGIC

- once you plan out everything on the itinerary, you can check the maps to see if any stop of the day seems especially out of the way, and amend accordingly!!

- as some attractions/places I wanted to visit were clustered, I could make use of this function to make sure I didn't travel back and forth too much in one day
