1. Shared experiences: we both know what it’s like to be Black which is SO important to me. There’s things other races of people just won’t understand and THAT’S OKAY. Sympathy is not the same as living it and if I have an experience that’s unique to the color of my skin, I want to be able to have my partner understand.

2. Future Children: no matter who I have kids with they will be Black, and they will be Black first before they are anything else in a lot of people’s eyes. I can NEVER be a Black man and I think it’s a disservice to my child to have to have them need to go outside the home they were raised in to discover what that’s like.

3. Good parents: now, I’m not saying your parents are bad. I’m saying, I saw the way my mother loved my father and I want to replicate that in my life. My dad’s Black, my mom’s Black and I want to create a home filled with as much love and joy as they did! ✨
