5 THINGS WE LEARNT FROM THE MAIN CON ROUTE 🕶

We strongly recommend the DIY route especially if you already know what you want and willing to put in much more time and effort because you can definitely save at least $10k working directly with a main con.

However, we also feel that it’s important to know exactly what you will be up for:

1. The amount of time & effort to be put in is significant especially if both of you are working. Tons of effort having to research and consolidate information of all the types of materials, placement and specifications of your furnitures and fixtures

2. You will have to map out your own reno journey with little to zero guidance, main con usually expect you to tell them what you already plan to do, what kind of furniture you want, and specifications of your furniture, appliances etc

3. Your home’s aesthetic, style, colour scheme are your responsibilities, creating moodboards might be the best to put all your thoughts and ideas together

4. It is important to be proactive and constantly check-in with your main con, if you are worried that your main com might feel annoyed, you can let him know in advance that you will check in regularly to set the tone right

5. Make sure you let your main con know this is your first home and you need to arrange a first meeting/phone call to walk you through a checklist of things you have to research for eg. gas/electric heater, induction/gas stoves, two-way light switches, electrical points etc
