How much should your parents give you?

When I was in Secondary school 2014-2016, I was only given $5/day as pocket money allowance. I remember my friends had $10/day and even more especially since I mostly eat lunch in school

Was it enough? Maybe not

But I am super thankful for this pocket money.

This meagre allowance taught me the value of money 💰

Like any teenager, I wanted to have fun with my friends after school. I wanted bubble tea, i wanted to eat outside sometimes (school canteen food was cheap but i wanted to eat better).

So what did I do? I started selling my handmades to my classmates 🤣😂. I made squishies and true enough my friends bought it.

Of course, I got into trouble (Singapore education system), but this taught me entrepreneurship. This was particularly valuable as I expanded from my school to using social media to reach out to strangers (and it sold well). My day would end with me going home to pack orders 🤣. There was once I particularly remember i had to trouble my classmate to help me drop off a bunch of orders at the post office because I was busy with CCA 😆

Even till now, I’m running my own businesses 😂. It’s funny because I used to grumble about having only $5/day. And I would feel so miserable and resentful but this really served me well (who knew)
