DANCING STICK FIGURES

This is such a simple experiment and activity you can do with our little one. You’ll wonder if you’re performing a magic trick, when your marker man begins to float!!!

All you need is:

-a light colored glass plate

-a dry erase marker

-water, warm

-a dropper or measuring cup

First, draw a stick figure on your clean kitchen plate. We know using glass with little ones seems risky but you really need a glass plate with a lip to make this work.

Next, use the dropper or measuring cup to slowly drip warm water onto the stick figure drawing. You will notice it will start to lift off of the plate and will float in the water puddle. You can wiggle and shift the plate and watch your stick figure dance all around!

We had so much fun with this one and had no idea that dry erase marker ink is insoluble in water which is what makes this little experiment work!
