I just signed a lease to move 17 hours away from home.

Change is scary! But let's discuss.

I have lived in Wisconsin my entire life, I am 25. I have been wanting to move away from home for a few years now. I am finally "ready" or what feels as close to ready as I have ever been. However I feel like you're never really ready for any change in your life. You just have to take it as it comes and run with it.

The past few years were filled with growth for me. I changed my entire lifestyle, embarked on a self employed journey, got a new addition into my life (puppy) and so much more. I am ready for the next step, and my next dream is to live somewhere new!

What am I afraid of? Well, I haven't had to make new friends in years. Like I said, I have lived in Wisconsin my entire life. I have friends here from elementary school, high school, college, etc. All of my family is here too. How do you even make friends as an adult? I don't have coworkers. It is completely up to me to put myself out there which is scary. I like to think I am outgoing and can talk to anyone but that skill has not been tested in awhile. Loneliness is scary. I want to create a new life for myself and having people around me is huge. I love friends, I love having people in my life that I care about and fear of rejection is huge.

On a completely different note, my monthly bills are about to double. This is super scary. I can afford my rent, but I have to be way more conscious of spending and all of my finances than ever before. This is a good thing but also super scary especially since my income is super variable from month to month.

I am moving into an apartment with my boyfriend and my dog. I have not lived in a small space with my boyfriend before... and I cannot say this does not scare me. We both work from home and will be in close proximity with each other so I need to remind myself that alone time and separation is good for us. Small spaces can create new problems and new things we have never had to deal with.

Any tips? Let me know :)
