I recently went on a date to the Strand bookstore in Union Square and found my way to their amazing horror section. Here are three amazing horror books found at the Strand that I could not recommend enough! 📚

Maeve Fly by C.J. Leede is about a psychologically unwell woman with murderous tendencies who works as a Disney princess in Anaheim, California. She meets a hockey player who shows extreme interest in her and they dive into a relationship that is both turbulent and filled with paranoia. Can a psycho really fall in love? If you are a fan of American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, this book is the female adjacent. 🔪

The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward is the psychological equivalent of a rollercoaster. It follows a woman seeking her long lost sister by moving in next door to the man she believes was the kidnapper. There is a cat POV in this book that is both really cute and eerie, and the final reveal will leave you reeling for weeks. Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist is a swedish novel about a young boy and his friendship with what appears to be a young girl named Eli. They meet in the playground of their apartment complex and we get to watch their relationship evolve despite some strange differences and disconnects. Because, in fact, Eli is not a young girl at all but a centuries old vampire. This book follows the lives of others in this working class suburb of Sweden who are affected by the disease and is such a realistic view into vampirism. 🧛🏻‍♀️
