We got KOMAtised at KOMA 🇯🇵✨

Here’s my HONEST review of the dishes we tried at Koma for a birthday celebration ☺️ Each dish with “🤤” is a MUST TRY, with “😬” is a CAN TRY, with “🫠” is a DON’T TRY.

🤤 Shrimp Tempura: While it looks underwhelming, just a bite into it brought us to live. The meat was sooo juicy, tender and fresh. 3 pieces weren’t enough and we contemplated to get a second serving!

🫠 Crispy Tokyo Gyoza: The gyoza was flavourful on its own but this dish came with the usual vinegar dipping sauce and a side of chilli sauce that was similar to satay sauce. Nothing too special about it because you can’t really go wrong with chicken gyozas.

🤤 Truffle Unagi Maki: If you’ve tried Meadows truffle chips and liked it for its strong truffle flavour, this dish does the same wonders.

🤤 Miso Marinated Black Cod: 3 chunks of silky and deeply seasoned black cod. Completely delicious and worth the price, especially if you love fish without skin.

😬 Truffle Fried Rice: Rich in truffle and mushroom flavours but would recommend to get only if you are a heavy eater or in groups of 3-4.

😬 Japanese Cheesecake: For the cheesecake lovers. Strawberries are fresh and sweet and thinly sliced which make it light to eat.

😬 Bonsai: If you are a chocolate lover, you’d love this although each individual component is nothing too special. Chocolate pocky sticks, chocolate corn flakes, chocolate cream, and even more chocolate in the edible chocolate pot. The vanilla ice cream helps to tone down the chocolatey-ness and it went well with the sponge like cake.

Overall, we had a great time at KOMA and we were definitely KOMAtised with the amount of food for 2 pax. Service was great because the staff were attentive, quick, and friendly! They even initiated to take photos for us. What could have made our experience better was the choice of background music because it was oddly loud and it didn’t suit the ambience. WOULD I RETURN? Probably, with family/friends to try their other dishes as their menu is pretty extensive 🫶🏼
