HOW TO FIND GOOD HOSTELS 🏨

When traveling to a new destination, there are lots of hostels to choose from, especially in a backpacker-heavy place like Europe, Southeast Asia or Central America. Choosing the right hostel for your budget and travel style can make or break a trip, so here are my tips for navigating this:

- Use Hostelworld and read reviews. View photos of the specific room you are considering, and search reviews for the items you need such as fast Wi-Fi if you're a digital nomad, or quiet rooms if you have trouble sleeping.

- If you want a more relaxed experience, avoid hostels with "party" or "youth" in the name. Conversely, if you want to be up all night partying with new friends, book those! I always research which hostels in my area are the party spots and I personally avoid them, but others may love it. Also, check hostel age limits. Sometimes, there is a cap if the hostel is geared toward younger travelers.

- Search the hostel on social media and check geotags and people's authentic posts from the hostel. This is great to judge social vibes, cleanliness and if the photos online are accurate.
