(OK folks, time for the mandatory long caption with every SQ resignation post! This one’s all about my life, so feel free to skip if you're here for airline-related stuff 🤪 But if you’ve got any burning questions, my DMs are open!)

Hey 🍋s!

I recently left my job as a cabin crew with SQ, and I have to say, it's been really bittersweet for me. I loved the job—getting paid to travel the world (!!), meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and, most importantly, fulfilling my daughter duties of taking my mum to her dream destinations. I never thought I could bring my mum to Europe🥹❤️

My mum has always dreamed of going to Europe (that’s my mum in my pic). It’s like a bucket-list kind of thing for her. Ever since I was a kid, she would talk about it non-stop. So, being able to bring her to places like Milan and seeing her face light up with pure joy outside the Duomo was one of the happiest moments of my life. I felt l like she has not fed me in vain😂

Unfortunately, my dad passed away a few years ago due to a stroke while I was still in school, and I never got the chance to take him anywhere. He was so close to watching me graduate 🥹 I actually took my final exam at his wake. It was tough, but I was determined to graduate with my friends!!! (I miss you dad and I’m sure you miss us too!!)

Now, back to why I left SQ—I’m heading back to school! Before I became a crew, I was working in the healthcare sector for a year after graduating with a degree in Biomedical Science.

Then, I applied to law school (yes, from biomed to law! It’s a thing). I’m pursuing a JD and I always had an interest in law, though I never really thought about actually studying it until my boyfriend (we’re getting married next year!!😭❤️😭❤️) and I decided to apply together. I am so sure he’d make a great lawyer; he’s super objective, logical, and research-oriented, so I told him, “You apply, I apply, we’ll go through the arduous application processes together” By some stroke of luck, or maybe it was my dad’s magical powers or fairy powder, we both got in!

With a few months left before school starts, I decided to quit SQ and take some time to readjust to a normal routine in Singapore. My sleep schedule had become so erratic with 3/4am bedtimes and 1pm wake-ups whenever I was back in SIN 🥲.

During this break, I also started my online bakery @/bearybaker on IG because I’ve always wanted to turn my hobby into something more serious! I’ve been selling pineapple tarts to friends and family during CNY (you can check them out on my IG), and we’re talking about making over 2000 tarts by hand for a month or two. Surprisingly, I never got tired of it! That’s when I realized this is something I truly love and want to pursue.

I’ve been giving out free tarts to some Lemon8 followers, friends, and family, and the feedback has been amazing, so I’m confident they’re pretty (and) delicious!

Here’s to hoping 2025 will be my year, where I can continue doing what I love and earn enough to take my mum to Europe again. Life is short, and I want to take her around the world while she can still travel.

Please support my business! If anything catches your eye, feel free to drop me a message—I’m sure we can work something out 😉 (maybe a free tart... free delivery...? 🤪)

P.S. my mum’s airport fashion is not usually so… unique😂
