Long distance is NOT easy, and a lot of people write it off before even giving it a shot. But in my life l've seen and been a part of many long distance success stories. So here are a few things that are important when sustaining a long distance relationship.

1. Clear Communication: Set expectations for regular communication methods and frequency and prioritize meaningful virtual interactions regularly

2. Set Goals and Plans: Discuss future goals and plan visits to have something to look forward to. Also talk about when the distance will end and set future goals

3. Trust and Honesty: Be open, honest, and transparent to build and maintain trust. Share with your partner so that they feel comfortable sharing with you.

4 Maintain Independence: Pursue your own interests and hobbies to stay balanced. Make friends outside of your partner so you aren't dependent on them.

5. Creative Connection: Engage in shared activities like movie nights or cooking together via video chat. I loved doing these!

6. Send Personal Gifts: Surprise each other with thoughtful gifts (like care packages and birthday or anniversary gifts) or handwritten letters.

7. Manage Expectations: Be realistic and flexible about the challenges you'll face. Don't expect them to be perfect and don' t get upset if they call at 7:35 instead of 7:30 etc.

8. Seek Support: Get advice from friends, family. or online communities. Branch out* to others who have gone through long distance and learn from them
