Hello Zesties!

Yes, I am back. Again. Unlike many of you, Ajumma just takes a super long time to write a post. And before you know it, it is the last quarter of the year. This year, we are planning to fly to Tokyo with the kids. For the past two trips to Japan, we usually end up skiing at Club Med. So, at Club Med, very little planning is required. Basically, it is a rinse and repeat holiday. The type that I like. This time round, we will be doing more of a touristy holiday in Tokyo- exploring Shibuya, Shinjuku, Team Labs and whatnots. Let's see how that goes. It feels like a lot of planning and yea, nobody likes to plan.

In case, you are planning for a trip to Beijing, I would recommend a family photoshoot. The Chinese folks are just experts in makeup and photography. Recently, I realised that Chinese makeup can also be interchangeably called Douyin makeup.

Last December, we booked a photography package with a studio near Forbidden City, but we did not take our photos at Forbidden City. Our photos were taken at Temple of Heaven instead because I liked the location better.

For our $600 package, it was inclusive-

✅ Hanfu

✅ Makeup and hairstyling

✅ Head dress- we could choose even the more extravagant looking ones but the girls did not like the weight on their heads.

✅ Coats (it was about 2 degrees that day).

✅ Footwear

✅ Accessories such as finger cots, books, fans.

Initially, the wardrobe person recommended yellow as the colour was reserved only for the emperor. E felt the vibe was just too OTT and hence we settled for red. The team was very dedicated to the details of the photoshoot, providing us with footwear as well as various accessories. The package also included two photographers and the photography session was for 2 hours of photography. All photos were returned to us and they edited 12 of our chosen photos.

After the photos were taken, we had a quick lunch at MacDonald's', returned to walk around Forbidden City, took photos on our own and felt very grand in imperial outfits. Haha. 10/10! In my opinion, a fairly memorable experience. Would you try it with your family?
