is a job w/o passion & purpose sustainable? 😔❤️‍🩹

typing out this post as i’m going through it to make sense of my thoughts, and ask for advice if anyone has felt the same. 😕

lately, i’ve been questioning how long i can last in a job that i’m struggling to find a strong sense of purpose in, even if it looks good on paper. to be clear, i am super grateful for my job & team and appreciate so many aspects of it. i’m sincerely thankful to be where i am.

it’s just that coming from the non-profit sector, i find myself missing the meaning and community so much lately. 💔 thinking about it actually makes me emotional, bc i cherished those moments and interactions, never having to question if my work was making a difference, getting to work daily with people who were driven by the same purpose and meet the beneficiaries who motivated me. i feel lost about how/ whether it’s even possible to mirror that type of impact in a corporate environment, even if to a lesser degree. 🥹

i’m still relatively new, so i’m holding out hope that i’ll find the opportunities and exposure to be involved in meaningful projects down the line. i guess we gotta give and take in every job, and it’s impossible to have a role which 100% fulfils you in every way 🥲 hopefully, this is just a phase, but i really can’t say for sure…
