My Little Weekend Roadtrip

this weekend I went on a roadtrip 5 hours north to visit my old college campus, and BOY, was that crazy!

》travel started on Friday around 3. I made it an hour and a half north and stopped to stay with my family over night. it was awesome seeing my little sister and family dog. my family just moved, so I helped unpack a tiny *tiny* bit.

》Saturday morning I was up at 6am to volunteer with Ally Medical with my mother. We brought lots of fun free gear to the local 5k and cheered as local powerhouses crushed a race at 7 in the morning.

》By 11am, i was back on the road with 4 hours on the GPS. Riding i-35 for 156 miles was honestly life risking and I only almost crashed twice!

》Around 3, i had almost reached my destination when my phone DIED!! Thus began, the most interesting outing of my life.

》I managed to navigate all the way to my friends apartment by God's grace 😂 luckily my memory served me well enough to get there. We decided to take her car and visit the local halloween town event downtown

》with my near dead phone, we got into a *minor* collision with another driver. this was, of course, extremely fun and not scary at all.

》we finally managed to park and explore the square, and to our dismay the diner we had wanted to go to was closed. so, we went to mcdonalds!

》got back to her apartment and we ordered an Uber to the edge of campus. we walked around campus a bit and i visited my favorite place maybe ever: the top of the parking garage. i took a pretty picture of the sunset. there was also a performance of Clare de Lune in the student center that nearly brought me to tears.

》we then visited local bars i used to marvel at and i tried a local shot named after the school. it was impeccable bro, import still not sure there was alcohol in it.

》Then we cooled off with card games back at her apartment! we played the longest round of uno flip anyone has ever seen, and then some monopoly deal.

》 finally, around 10pm, i finally left and drove another hour west, to meet with my boyfriend at the after party of a wedding he attended! it was cool meeting the wedding party and playing various games through the evening.

》and then, with the last of my gusto, we left at 1:30am to reach out hotel a half hour away. I swear, I fell asleep the moment I touched the pillow.

》today was full of driving home (in my car without AC in 90 degree weather 😬). I only had a minor mental breakdown, crying 3 hours into the drive at a gas station while pounding the first real water i had consumed since Thursday.

so yeah. really really long few days 😂 I'm excited to be home with my cat and to sleep my ass off tonight.
