Sandbox Turtle Makeover

I recently had so much fun giving my thrift store find, a Little Tikes sandbox turtle, a brand new look with a makeover! The turtle only cost me $6, and with a little bit of creativity and Rust-Oleum spray paint, I was able to transform this adorable turtle into an aesthetic looking summer toy for my toddler.

First, I cleaned him with soap and water. Then I used a “flat white” primer on the entire turtle. Next, I chose a creamy off-white called “Satin Smokey Beige” to paint the turtle's body, a muted pink called “Satin Vintage Blush” for the shell, and a warm brown that I made using leftover acrylic paint that I had for his spots. I carefully sprayed each section with the paint, ensuring that I covered his eyes for safe keeping. I finished off with a satin clear coat to help the paint last. The end result was a pink and playful turtle that my child couldn't wait to play with!

This sandbox turtle has quickly become one of our favorite toys to use in the backyard. It's perfect for my toddler to play with, and the makeover has made it all the more special. It's amazing what a little bit of paint can do at $6-$7 a can!
