Hello friends! This is a new series I’m trying out :-) ⭐️
Herbs are an essential part to my wiccan practice, but it can be overwhelming choosing which ones to buy when you’re just starting out, so I made a short list of multipurpose herbs and their uses. These are also going to be some of the easiest to find in my opinion. 🪲
Rosemary; Purification, Protection
Like salt, rosemary is an important protection herb. I regularly cleanse my space with rosemary smoke and will incorporate rosemary into spells to have an extra layer of protection for myself.
Bay Leaf: Luck, Wealth, Safe travels
Bay leaves, although expensive at the grocery store (4-5$ for 2 leaves is criminal) you can find bay leaf plants or bulk herb sales selling them for way cheaper! Placing them throughout the home welcomes luck and wealth, intentions written on bay leaves are a powerful manifestation technique, and hiding a bay leaf in the sole of your shoe can protect you when you’re away from home!
Mint: Communication, Protection
Mint is wonderful for stimulating communication, so if your intention is to have someone talk to you about something or to interact with a special someone, mint should definitely be included in the spell. Placing mint near your door or bed is also a powerful protection. If i’m short on mint, sometimes i’ll just cut open a tea bag!
Cinnamon: invigorating
Cinnamon can add a extra power to your spells without changing the basic intention for it. By adding cinnamon, you may see quicker or more drastic results.
Chili Powder: Protection, Banishing
Chili powder can act as an easily accessible banishment tool. Think of the heat of the spice “burning” away negativity that may have been sent to you. Plus it’s something that you might already have at home!
Lavender: Love, Healing
Lavender is a popular herb in gardening, bath mixes, and drinks, but also has magical properties of promoting love and healing. If you’re interested in self love spells, love spells, or healing yourself mentally through magic, incorporating lavender is an easy way to accomplish that.
Salt: Protection, Purification
Although I’m reluctant to call salt an herb, having salt is essential when doing any work. Salt purifies spaces, spell jars, etc. and protects you from any negative energy. It is super important to protect yourself energetically while doing spell work.
🦨 Note: every practice and practitioner may use herbs differently or for different reasons - if an association on this list doesn’t feel right to you, that’s okay!
