I spent >$100 buying the wrong towels 😫🥵

I’ve bought many bath towels over the years. Some turned out great, while others ended up at the bottom of my closet where I don’t ever reach for them 🙈

Hence I wanted to share with y’all this guide—be sure to SAVE this so that you can buy the right towel for your needs! 😜

Factors to consider in terms of your priorities:

1️⃣ 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴: Do you have a window / fan in your toilet? Is your toilet usually damp? How often do you plan to wash your towels?

2️⃣ 𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗹: Are you tall? Do you have sufficient space in your toilet to place multiple towels? How many towels do you expect to wash in each laundry load? 

3️⃣ 𝗣𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: Do you prefer hotel-like towels that give off that luxurious vibe? Do you like something more lightweight?

My general preference is for large & thick towels. This means that I’d have to sacrifice on speed of drying. 

I deal with this by opening the window in my toilet daily (it’s kept open throughout our waking hours 😊) . Towels are washed after 2 to 3 showers!

Factors to consider in terms of towel selection:

1️⃣ 𝗚𝗦𝗠 (𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿)

This is the unit of measurement for a towel's weight and density. It can range anywhere from 300 - 900 GSM.

In general, the higher the GSM, the thicker & plusher your towel will be. Those looking for hotel-like towels should go for higher GSM e.g. 600 onwards. 

If you want a towel that dries quickly and is lightweight, go for something with lower GSM e.g. 300-400.

FYI, not all brands display GSM. Before I knew about GSM, I’d touch a towel and think “hmm yes this feels thick enough”. I’d often end up disappointed after using the towel 😤

2️⃣ 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘃𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗹𝘀

If you’re tall or just prefer larger towels in general, a bath sheet might work better for you.

My life was changed after I discovered bath sheets LOL 🤡

3️⃣ 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 & 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲

Common ones include:

▪️ Terrycloth

▪️ Combed or ringspun cotton

▪️ Zero-twist

▪️ Waffle weave

▪️ Microfiber

How do you even know which one you prefer? 

Other than microfiber which is best for gym towels, I highly recommend you head down to a physical store to touch & feel the towels for yourself (then you’re free to purchase online and capitalise on promos if you’d like 😝).
