My horrible salon hair treatment experiences 😠😤

I used to go for regular hair treatments at many different salons. I've tried:

▪️ One-off treatments (both full price & via vouchers)

▪️ Signing up for packages

▪️ Visiting speciality salons that target hair & scalp problems

And I gave up on salons because of these factors 😤😩

1️⃣ Poor hair wash / massage standards

I mean... this is one of the reasons why you'd pamper yourself with a salon hair treatment right?! 🙈

Ok let's not talk about how some of them just rush through this process. What's worse is hair stylists who use their long nails to wash (scratch??) your scalp, v painful y'know?

2️⃣ If you're doing a one-off treatment, chances are you're gonna listen to some sales talk

If you're unlucky, it'll be a hard sell & awkward as heck despite you being a paying customer 😣

And then your hair stylist might give you a black face for the rest of the duration if you say you don't wanna buy a package 🤷🏻‍♀️

I srsly hate this because it spoils the whole experience for me! 😩

3️⃣ When salons try to sell you a package, they're likely do a hair analysis / use some kind of scanning device to show you how bad your scalp condition is

After you sign up and go for subsequent regular treatments, most of them no longer do this?!

Um.. I'd like some EVIDENCE that your treatments are improving my scalp / hair condition if I'm paying so much??

4️⃣ The effects of the treatments I had never lasted more than 3-5 days for me 😭

And yet each treatment typically costs >$100 in SG 💸💸 (yes I've also tried salons in JB which are cheaper but the above point still stands lol)

5️⃣ Hair stylists may not even know much about the products they're using!

One time I asked a hair stylist what was the ampoule he was applying on my scalp.

Y'know what his answer was?!

“AMPOULE IS AMPOULE LOR!” (he replied in Mandarin with no further explanation) 😤🤯

I kennut. I NEED to be convinced by science & facts if I'm paying >$100 ok??

Anyways, I've stopped going for hair treatments since Sep last year.

These days, I do weekly hair treatments at home for a FRACTION of the price and tbh, I've a way better experience cause I no longer have to deal with the factors above.

But pls share with me if you've other BS hair salon experiences in the comments; I'd love to know.

Or if you’ve tried salon hair treatments that are legit good and don’t belong to the 5 categories above, pls tell me so perhaps I might have renewed faith 🙏🏻
