3 Cleaning Hacks for Used/Leftover Lemons 🍋

We all end up with used/leftover lemons from time to time, but there's no need for them to go to waste.

These bright and zesty fruits can do much more than flavor your drinks and dishes.

In this post, we'll explore the world of "used" lemons! I’ll be sharing some practical and eco-friendly tricks that will make you think twice before throwing them away!

1. Natural Cleaner with Lemon 🍋 🧽🫧

Before reaching for harsh chemicals, consider using a lemon. Dip used/ fresh lemon in salt/ baking soda , and scrub away on surfaces like stovetop, sink, cutting boards and the inside of your microwave/oven.

The citric acid in lemons is a natural stain and odor remover!

2. Natural Food Odor Remover 🍋👍🏻

This lemon and vinegar solution is a natural way to combat food odors and leave your kitchen smelling fresh!

Ingredients:

1 lemon, sliced into rounds or wedges

1 cup of white vinegar

1 cup of water

Instructions:

In a small pot, bring the 1 cup of water to a boil.

Once the water is boiling, add the lemon slices or wedges to the pot. Stir in the 1 cup of white vinegar.

Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10-15 minutes. The steam from the pot will help remove food odors from the air. You can let the pot continue simmering as long as needed to freshen the air in your kitchen.

Afterward, turn off the heat and let the solution cool. You can leave the pot on the stove or move it to the area where you want to eliminate odors

⭐️ Bonus Tip ⭐️

Is your garbage disposal emitting unpleasant odors? Run the used pieces through the disposal, and follow with cold water. The lemon's pleasant aroma will replace any unwelcome scents !

3. Natural Stains Removal 🍋🧴🧼

Those pesky stains on your cutting board from chopping colorful veggies can be tackled with a lemon.

Sprinkle salt/ baking soda on the stained area and rub it with the cut side of a lemon. The lemon's natural bleaching properties will help lighten and remove the stains.

So, before you toss that half-used lemon or the peels you don't need, learn how they can be useful around your home!
