Engaged / Married/ Honeymoon & House all in a year

My review on... doing all 4 major things in ure life in a year.

And no im not pregnant or anything like that. Haha!

Im a freelancer and i always thought that i would never do my engagement / marriage / honeymoon let alone a house all in the same year. Is it possible? Well, tried and successfully survive it. So Yes! Definitely Possible. Lemme give u an insight to how we did it.

1) Engagement ( June 2023)

So my husband went the traditional route by asking for my hand in marriage from my parents before he got on one knee. hahah! So he did this knowing i would say yes but kudos to him for being able to suprise me still. he did it during our Pre- wedding shoot which we won at the lucky draw when we sign our photographer. Save money!

Ring:

Im the kind of a girl that i want something thats simple and timeless and thats what ive asked for. I dun need a huge piece of diamond to satisfy myself. So my husband is lucky to have me.. 😅 lol!

We opted to get our rings from Meyson after surveying many onsite shops & those online that customises. The staff was really helpful and recommended what we want for the price we have in mind. We spend almost $2500 for all 3 rings. Yes 3! hahah! Meyson is the shop u need to go too if ure on a budget!! Go check it out!

2) Marriage ( Aug 2023)

Well we decided that we gonna get married in end of 2022 so we quickly book our location, dress and suit and photographers early and during a wedding event as they usually have promotions or package prices. And we avoided the incremenr of GST.

Our location provided:

1. Food

2. Door Gift

3. Deco

4. Wedding cake

5. EmCee ( Important to keep ure event running. And he was good. He was professional and gave us suggestions too!)

Tip: Know whats a must to have and wats ok to compromise ( somethings gotta give if u wanna stick to the budget)

3) Honeymoon (Sept 2023)

We were actually ready to only go on a trip after we get our house but alot of people say once u do that u won't actually go for the honeymoon which was probably gonna be true once we stress about money.

So we wanted to go to Indo/ Bali / KL but we found a flight to KOREA at a steal of $400 to go from

SG 🛫 Jeju🛫 Seoul 🛫 SG.

So lesson here even if u doubt u dun have a lot to travel. keep a look out for promos and u never know.

4) Home ( Dec 2023)

I applied for Sales of Balance in nov thinking we might not even get it at first try. So we looked at resale flats while waiting for the result. Always have a plan A , B , C and etc. Doesn't hurt to be ready for any situation. We liked one of the house we saw but waited out for our SBF result. Our patience was paid off and we got our SBF flat which was ready for collection.

We were informed that we can only get the key in jan - Feb 2024 but we wrote in and called multiple times to speed the process up. So now we are in the midst of renovation. This was a whole other headache but i just went through my own renovation with my family home so that experience helped alot. Do ure research on both getting an ID or contactor. Honestly its a matter of comfort. Contractor requires u to check and coordinate.. if u have time then u might save a couple of hundreds / thousands. I have experience using both ID and contractor so trust me both has its challenges. Gotta be prepared for them and u will be fine.

Plan early, Know what you want and seat down with ure partner to draw up a financial plan for all the things u MUST have. Be ready to compromise where needed.
