Braces at 42!

WTF! Braces at 42?! I had braces for three years when I was younger (got them off at 14). In the last 5 years, I noticed a lot of shifting happening and I started to hate my smile. I went to three orthodontist consultations…one of them told me he wouldn’t put braces on me until I fixed the problem. Excuse me? Come again? Problem? What problem! Apparently I have had a tongue thrust my entire life. Well how does one fix this? Orofacial Myology. It’s basically therapy to help you retrain your tongue so that it rests at the roof of your mouth instead of pushing forward on your teeth. I did complete therapy, it took 3.5 months. It’s definitely something I have to think about and correct myself on. Now the journey of braces has begun.
