Type 1 Diabetes is not aesthetic

T1D is a lifetime disease that is less than glamourous, regardless of what TikTok tells you. It makes me feel like a “bad diabetic” seeing all of the TikToks about how people handle this disease. They make it seem as if there’s no bad days, when in fact there are. It is drs visits, injections, finger sticks, device changes multiple times a week, highs, lows, side effects of them, sleepless nights, mood swings, food issues, and so much more.

As much as I would love to have glamour in this disease, there’s just not that. Being the only diabetic in my family, I feel like no one understands. They give unrelenting support, but they see the glamour of TikTok.

With that being said, I love the fact I can feel comfortable to post the unaesthetic that is T1D on this platform! I hope that at least 1 person feels like someone gets it and will support them if they feel like no one else does 🫶🏻
