is this hawker western food worth the queue? 🤤

to answer the question: YES 🤤 i think it speaks volumes that this crowd-favourite western hawker stall has been the longest-standing stall @ the “hipster” food section of Pasir Ris Central Hawker centre, and it’s the only stall there that perpetually has such a looooong queue. although i stay in the area, i’ve only managed to have it twice because the queue really is an hour long 🤯

what i love about wild olives, besides the taste and price ofc, is that you can choose 2 sides which are all q unique to go with your main! and for a $1 top-up, you can get a bowl of homemade mushroom soup that’s so tastes so unique 😋

what we ordered:

🍗 grilled chicken w/ herbed potatoes + mushroom rice, $6.50

served with a dark brown sauce (mushroom perhaps?), the chicken was so succulent and paired so well with the sauce! the herbed potatoes really stole the show for me. unlike regular herbed potatoes, this one was glazed and sautéed with caramelized onion. the mushroom rice tasted more like rice with caramelized onion tbh w a few mushrooms inside… was recommended this side but tbh i think u can give the rice a miss

🍟breaded chicken w/ fries + herbed potatoes, $6.80

the breaded chicken was not at all dry like i expected it to be (esp after eating so many dry at ones). but tbh i felt that the grilled chicken was better than this!

🍽️ unfortunately the downside rly is the LONG QUEUE 😞 the owners have a very weird system - there’re only 2 hawkers, 1 taking orders + serving and the other grilling. the hawker usually takes orders the moment you’re at the counter and serves your food almost immediately… which is q inefficient imo,, which rly explains the long queue HAHA but the food is q worth the wait 🥰
