If you love the Trader's Joes soup dumplings you need to try authentic Dim Sum! My homegirl and I went to Nom Wah (13 Doyers St, New York, NY 10013) recently, which is the first NYC Tea parlor. It's in Chinatown and about a 7-minute walk from Canal Street Station.
Here is everything I ordered:
House Special Soup Dumplings - $6.95
Spare ribs $5.95
Side of White Rice $1.50
My friend ordered Shrimp and Veggie dumplings both $5.95.
The hostess was telling us it gets pretty busy and they don't make reservations. It was a calm Tuesday afternoon and it was a great comfort meal! It's super affordable, and since you order a la carte you can try so many things without committing to a huge entree.
