Don’t be afraid to start… again.

As someone who used to play competitive soccer for 15+ years, could last the full 90 min game as a center mid, and was able to run a mile in 6mins 35secs… being 40lbs heavier than I was at my most fit& not being able to run a full mile is extremely humbling to say the least 🙃🫣lol.

2018 was the last time I played soccer for fun and then 2020 sent me in the deepest depression I have ever been in. As a healthcare worker in a skilled nursing facility I very quickly packed on the pounds with the anxiety, depression, &endless free pizza we were sent 🙃🤦🏻‍♀️

After leaving a toxic work environment, multiple “failed” attempts of getting healthy, and working on my mental health I am finally ready to start working on my physical health consistently. The difference this time is my mindset and approach. This time it’s not about a number I want to see on the scale again… it’s about my mental & physical health. It’s about feeling healthy again and so that I’m able to get back to playing a sport that I have always had so much love for and have missed. Because why can’t I join a rec league at 30?!

Today I ripped the bandaid off AGAIN to get started. Not gonna lie, It absolutely sucked lol… but I started and am taking it one day at a time. I know that it’s going to take time but I’m excited for the day it starts to feel good again.
