HOW WE UPDATED OUR VINTAGE BATHROOM WITH PAINT

This project was heavily inspired by my obsession with Wes Anderson film interiors, and knowing I couldn’t update the tile in this space, I wanted to embrace it. I love vertical stripes and how they draw the eye up, so they were always on my list of projects to try!

My plan was to find paint colors that closely matched the two existing tile colors on the walls, a muted pink and a deep, tawny brown. I ended up leaning more red with the paint, because I thought a red and pink stripe would be more visually appealing than a pink and brown (can you say 2004?).

I was on my own at first for his project, and I worked on it while my children napped. Frog tape was a game changer and I really preferred using it for straight lines and less bleeding. Tape is not perfect, however and these lines did end up being touched up by my husband!

Next, we painted the cabinet and added the custom wooden knobs I painted for the project. I love the way everything turned out – slightly circusy, and fun for a kids’ bathroom. What do you think? #lemon8partner #lemon8creators #beforeandafter #renovation #homedecor #decor #interiordesign
