MUST TRY Sheng Jian Bao 🤩

I was at Northpoint City the other day and stumbled across Nosignboard Sheng Jian. I was super stoked as I've personally tried Sheng Jian Baos in Shanghai and absolutely loved it! Definitely helped that Nosignboard is a pretty established brand so we were much more inclined to try it. 🥳

For those who are unaware, Sheng Jian Bao is essentially a pan-fried pork bun. Althought its skin is much thicker than a typical xiao long bao, it still has a similar pork and broth filling. However, the best part of the sheng jian bao has got to be the crispy bottom. 😛

🦀 Signature Chilli Crab & Pork SJB ($7.30/3pieces) and Signature ""Popping Juices"" SJB ($6.30/3pieces)

The sjb's were pretty big! I would say it was similar in size to a small chicken bao. Not gonna lie, this was much more underwhelming compared to the ones I had in China... BUT I have to give them credit for the amount of juice inside the baos!!! 🤩 You really have to be careful when biting into them as it is loaded with juice. The chilli crab ones were also super spicy so if you can't handle spice, do avoid it! 🌶️

🍚 Fried Rice with minced Beef and Crispy Garlic ($15.80)

I found it quite expensive at first as I thought it would be a one-person dish. However, the portion was pretty big and can definitely be shared between 2pax. It was super flavourful and my boyfriend and I agreed that this was indeed nicer than their sheng jian baos. 🥴

If you've not tried sheng jian baos before, you MUST give it a try! It's super good when served piping hot. 💨
