what it's like being a former NICU mom

i gave birth to my daughter at 24+3. 177 day nicu stay. she has come so so far. she's hitting just about all of her milestones for her adjusted age!

i'm so proud to be her mom. i can't wait for everyone to sing happy birthday to her.

it was the scariest and best day.

i didn't get to hold her for a week. i saw her for maybe five seconds (in a bag) before she was rushed to the nicu. i saw her a few hours later.

red, sticky, so so tiny.

i'm getting better at not blaming myself for it. at my 6wpp appointment i was diagnosed with an incompetent cervix. if i ever decide to get pregnant again, my cervix will need stitched.

it was such a long journey, and i know we still have a long road ahead of us.

normally around five dr appointments a month. she's slowly coming off oxygen and can eat solids!

things are looking up for us.
