hey zesties! 🍋

It’s been awhile since my last post, but many of you have been interested in how to create a portfolio or what to include in your portfolio. This is something that i have been frustrated over before. Not knowing what to include in my portfolio ended up making me procrastinate and not wanting to even start on my portfolio. So I can understand how many of you might feel at this stage.

I put together a little checklist on what you should include in your portfolio.

Key items:

☎️ Contact Details — linkedin, email

📂 2-3 of your best Case studies

- These are the heart of your portfolio!! ❤️

The next question on your mind is probably

What’s in a case study even?

Don’t worry, I got you.

1. Overview

The project overview is a crucial section in your UI/UX portfolio's case study. It provides a high-level introduction to the project you're showcasing.

🤝 Introduction**:** It's the first thing viewers read when they access your case study, so it introduces them to the project, helping them understand its scope and significance.

📖 Context: By briefly explaining the project's context and the problem it aimed to solve, you provide a clear understanding of the project's goals and challenges.

🧠 Relevance: The project overview helps viewers determine whether the project aligns with their interests or the skills they're looking for. It allows them to quickly assess whether it's a project they'd like to explore further.

💡 Conciseness**:** It should be concise but informative, so viewers can grasp the essence of the project without diving into all the details at the outset.

Remember that the project overview should be engaging and entice viewers to explore the case study further. It's an opportunity to capture their interest and motivate them to continue reading and delving deeper into your work.

2. User research

Including user research in your portfolio demonstrates that your design approach is rooted in the needs and preferences of the end-users. It shows that your designs are not based solely on personal assumptions but on empirical data gathered from the target audience.

3. User flows & information architecture

Incorporating user flows and site maps in your UI/UX design portfolio helps viewers better understand your design thinking, problem-solving abilities, and the user experience you've crafted.

4. Visual designs & wireframes

Incorporating visual designs and wireframes in your portfolio demonstrates your proficiency in both the creative and structural aspects of UI/UX design, reinforcing your ability to deliver well-rounded and effective design solutions.

5. Usability testing

Incorporating usability testing in your UI/UX design portfolio provides concrete evidence of your commitment to creating user-friendly and effective designs.

6. Retrospective

A retrospective is a valuable section in your UI/UX portfolio's case study that provides you with an opportunity for reflection. It helps you evaluate what you learned from the project and how you can continue to grow and improve as a designer.

Hope this skeleton outline can help you take the first step! Do let me know in the comments below 👇🏻 if you have any questions! :- ) Jiayous 💪🏻
