Yes, 3 days meaning 72 hours! I fast on nothing but water. Guess what…I feel amazing!
With the articles and videos I watched/read up on, the benefits outweighed my thought is “omg no food for 3 days!”
Some health benefits:
- Cellular renewal and regeneration (autophagy)
- Reduced body fat
- Reduced inflammation
- Improved cognitive function
* my reasoning for doing it was mental clarity. I wanted to take a moment to slow down and regroup. I wanted to be more focused!
How I prepared myself:
Intermittent fast, one week prior. I started eating closer to 2p each day. I did all vegan/plant based meals (prepared by my mom 🤩) leading up to the fast. Very clean and fresh.
What I did during the 72 hours:
Keep your schedule free and your mind busy!
- limit screen time (phone in a draw for 24 hours)
- reading/journaling
- self care: mani/pedi, facial
- outdoor walks (20 mins)
- good sleep
- of course adulting: cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, cooking
- Lots of water! At least 3 liters per day *you can do sparkling water, plain coffee/tea - no additives. I stuck with just water.
What I ate post fast:
Broth: Veggie broth
Probiotic: Sauerkraut
Prebiotic: Broccoli (lightly steamed, no seasoning)
Protein: Tofu (10 mins in the air fryer)
* eaten every 30mins - 1 hour
Takeaway:
I was easy for me! But, I was very well prepared which I feel attribute to my positive response. I noticed drastic changes:
- energy level increased
- no more body aches in the morning
- down 7lbs
A note that helped me: hunger pain will happen…RIDE THE WAVE. It’s temporary!
