My local book club’s September pick! It was steamy, fun, and had a great backstory to the romance.

Book Summary:

Naomi Witt runs away from her wedding and her life to help her “evil” twin sister. She was always the “good” daughter. She followed the rules, got good grades, and had a career. Her sister was the exact opposite. Naomi should have seen it coming when she ends up robbed and stranded in the small town of Knockemout, VA with a niece she never knew existed. There to witness the whole thing is Knox Morgan, a grumpy business owner in town. After watching Naomi’s life implode, Knox feels like he needs to help her out. He can’t stand women like Naomi, but he can’t seem to stay away.

My Review:

I’m already a fan of contemporary romance books, but this one was different! There was almost an underlying mystery surrounding Naomi’s twin sister and why she abandoned her daughter. Plus, it was endearing to watch Naomi become a mother figure to her niece.

The whole cast of townspeople and relatives was fantastic! There are 2 more books about some of the other characters and I’m excited to read them.

I don’t always love grumpy-sunshine romances, because the guy just comes across as a jerk. And that’s true with this book. It’s why I docked it a star. But he does end up being an adorable softy. It just took a while to get there!
