I am 19, he is 26... is that too old?

He goes to the same college as I do, and has been in the military (thus explaining why a 26 year old is in college). We met in a class together, and at that point I didn't know how old he was. I thought he was my age. It wasn't until I admitted I had a crush on him that he dropped the bomb. I was pretty crushed and wondered if I should even keep talking to him, but somehow we've kept contact thru dms. I'm finding it difficult to get over him. The worst part is, my roommate's cousin is head over heels for me, and hes a lot closer in age. I haven't met him in person, but he seems very kind and polite...
