Hawaiian Poke at a liquor store? 🍣

Did you know some of the best poke can be found at local grocery stores around the island? 🤯

Recently on my trip to Maui, I was determined to find the best poke. After scouring through tiktoks, reddit, and other travel blog - it seemed like most would agree that most poke on the island are fresh and the tastiest bowls can be found just about anywhere. Plenty of people recommended Tamura’s Fine Wine and Liquor for some delicious poke - and yes, you read that right - it is a liquor store. But in the back, there’s an entire counter dedicated to serving the freshest fish. One thing that surprised me the most is that most poke on the island is strictly ahi tuna (vs. the variety of fish you can find state side). When you order, you order by weight (typically half pound or full pound). We got to try a variety of marinades, and my favorite was the garlic poke, and their ninja style poke! But honestly, they were all pretty good and it’s worth a stop if you’re visiting!
