I really love the fact that Hanna Alkaf has written Hamra and The Jungle of Memories that highlights Malaysia myths and legends. And it's fun too and perfect for kids!

It's just that I feel like the quest to strip the tiger's power for me is a bit biasa-biasa, the only thing that keeps me going is the myths, like what's next myth? 😍

The starting of this book also discusses children's emotions and the main character's emotion and thought development is also very positive towards the end. From being stressing out having the need to take care of her grandparents to someone who wants to protect her family. I'd say that's a huge change.

The ending of the book is also perfect with the trope love story turns ugly. It's nicely done and I cried a bit, ngl.

And the best part is this is supposed to be a Little Red Riding Hood with close reference of "what big teeth you have" and Hamra's nickname is Little Red BUT KAN, tak rasa pun like a retelling because it's filled with Malaysia's stories. Overall, highly recommended!
