I started this journey back in August 2022, registering for a CDC account, but I only began the driving lessons and tests in February 2023. Here’s how I navigated the highs and lows of getting my license at ComfortDelGro Driving Centre (CDC):

📅 Timeline & Process

My journey was a rollercoaster! I initially failed the BTT (Basic Theory Test) on my first attempt, which was a shock, but I quickly regrouped and managed to pass both the BTT and FTT (Final Theory Test) with solid results. A big win was booking simulator slots—landing them consecutively on the same day, just 20 minutes apart! After maxing out my practical lessons, I finally passed the driving test on the first attempt with only 10 demerit points. The whole process, from theory to passing the test, took about 2.5 months, and it was worth every moment. 🚦💪

💡 Tips & Advice

Honestly, just get it done! I recommend scheduling lessons every other day, either in the morning or afternoon, to match real driving conditions. Night lessons are a no-go—they don’t help much since the TP (Traffic Police) test happens in the day. And yes, driving during peak hours can be useful, but don’t overdo it—traffic queues won’t teach you much about actual driving! 🚗🕒

💰 Cost & Instructors

It cost me nearly $3,000, but with prices rising fast, I think it’s an investment worth making now. I was lucky to have a great mix of instructors at CDC. Desmond’s gentle yet thorough guidance was perfect for learning techniques, while Rosson’s tough-love approach drilled the safety aspects into me. Honestly, the structured curriculum at CDC was a lifesaver—systematic and easy to follow, which I really appreciated. 📚👍

🔥 Challenges & Highlights

Changing lanes was my biggest challenge—each situation was unique, with countless variables. But honestly? The circuit courses were a breeze once I got the hang of them. The dreaded S-shaped bend, slope course, and parallel parking were all manageable with CDC’s structured practice. By the time I hit the road on test day, I felt confident—because if you clear the circuit, the road is practically yours! 😎🚙

No regrets going with the school. The structured approach, detailed lessons, and guidance from diverse instructors gave me a solid foundation. It was systematic, well-planned, and, most importantly, stress-free for a first-timer.
