These are the 4 things I wish someone told me to invest in when I started my journey mastering the jump rope 🪢.

💟 Beaded rope: The added weight slows the rope down for a little more control to practice tricks, so it's great for learning crossovers. The downside to the added weight is that it's difficult if you want to do any fast skipping. Plus, it hurts! 🤣

💟 Cheap cable rope: This basic rope from Amazon was my first purchase. It's cheap and durable, so if jumping isn't for you, at least you didn't waste too much money. It tangles really easily though👎🏽.

💟 Running shoes: You need shoes with cushion and support! Wearing shoes that don't have cushion and ankle support is a great way to get shin splints. Before investing in some thick running shoes, I struggled with pain and had to take many breaks between skipping sessions to prevent injury.

💟 Jump rope mat: Once I hit a month of consistently jumping rope, I purchased a mat!! This is so necessary if you jump on concrete. This mat plus a great pair of shoes helps prevent pain and injury. I can comfortably jump 30 or more minutes now. Don't use a yoga mat because it will flake and fall apart. This it sturdier and withstands the impact. Mats also help preserve your ropes since they aren't getting scratched up by the ground.
