my personal experiences & where I went (part 1)

Disclaimer: Before I begin, I'd like to first say that if you're gonna comment "in (insert religion) this is considered (insert synonym of the word "evil")" then pls save yourself the trouble and scroll away! I have my own personal beliefs so please do not impose yours on mine.

I'd also like to say that while I am ~chronically curious~, I also do not 100% believe in whatever that I've been told. Circumstances can change, and besides, going for fortune telling / tarot is more about coping with uncertainties. And having to cope with uncertainties, or being anxious about uncertainties is completely normal and 100% part of The Human Experience.

Here are some of my past experiences, along with who / where I went to.

1. The Middle East Psychic (Marwan Arabi)

He was introduced to me by an ex boss (who backstabbed me – horror story for another day?). She swore by his readings and at some point, she got so insecure that she went for frequent readings (like once every 3 months or so). She was in her late 40s then and unmarried, so she was extremely anxious about whether she was finally going to settle down. The psychic actually told her that there wasnt much left for him to tell her if she's gonna keep coming so frequently 😭

But boy was he accurate. I wouldnt say it's a 100% accuracy but he got 90% of things right.

For her, he managed to pinpoint exactly as to when she would meet her partner, where she would meet him, and even when he would propose. 🤯 the psychic kept telling her to not worry about not settling down because things were about to happen.

so being the kiasu me, I decided to get a reading as well. This was in maybe 2016 (i think) and I think I paid $150ish for an hour long reading. I'm not sure about now though!

to book an appointment with him, you gotta contact his secretary / helper (you can google for the number) and she will arrange for the rest. She will also tell you to prepare 3 burning questions that you have and just keep them in your head, and to not mention anything at all to Marwan. If I'm not wrong, Marwan flies between a few countries that he operates in (SG / Australia and some other places) so you'll only be able to book him when he is back in SG.

I met Marwan in a cafe in a country club (i cant rmb where exactly anymore) and I could see why he picked that spot. It was quiet and private and perfect for a chat like that. Upon reaching, we LITERALLY only said hi. I took a seat and he asked to look at my palms.

Then things got crazy immediately. 😥 the first question i had was for career. I was working as a super junior underwriter back then (first job!), and it wasnt something that I enjoyed. The first thing Marwan said to me was...

"You'll never be a doctor."

That was creepy because I'd wanted to get into medicine since I was in secondary school. You might say yeah sure that's what every other person aspires to be right?

Well no, i made this decision after watching my cousin pass from cancer. Her passing changed me in a way that i couldnt explain. Just too young and things deteriorated SO quickly. The last thing she told me was that I could do whatever I want in my life and I had so much time ahead of me, so make full use of it and live a full life. She stopped speaking a few days after that because she simply had no more energy to.

And throughout my schooling years, I found myself meeting setbacks after setbacks. I think fundamentally I just sucked at subjects like Chem (which was an impt prerequisite for med, but I still worked hard though!! It just wasnt enough.)

For instance, I picked pure bio in sec sch + combined phy/chem. I did so thinking that bio was impt for medicine... and I only scored A2 for my combined chem. As a result, I wasnt allowed to do H2 chem in JC. And H2 chem is required for med! 🥲 i even appealed in JC but I still wasnt allocated H2 chem.

In uni, I tried to go abroad to study med but somehow NOTHING worked. NOTHING!!!! (My A level grades were not too bad tbh - locally I just cannot enter law / med and whatever that needs h2 chem 🤡. This is a long story by itself so I wont go into details here.)

back to the experience. Marwan then said that I just wasnt meant to go that way. Doors close for good reasons, so dont be regretful and just believe that something else more suitable is meant for you.

He then told me that I probably hate my current job and to leave. The skills I have / the things Im inclined to doing arent aligned with this job even if it might promise to pay well in future.

My two other questions were about family and relationships. I wont go into my family's issues here but I can safely say that Marwan picked up on my family's issues. I actually confronted my father after the reading and he got angry BECAUSE he was guilty. As for relationships, I was already single for a while at that point. It wasnt really my focus but I had no 3rd question in mind LOLOL.

This was where he wasnt too spot on. He told me to not fool around / go clubbing or I WILL get pregnant before I am ready. He also told me that after I marry, I will have a hard time getting pregnant.

Well for starters, I dont club nor sleep around. If that's your thing, I'm cool. I just personally dont like to touch sweaty strangers 🫠

I told my mother about these and she said "if you want a kid then just sleep around before you get married la. No worries anymore right?" 🤡
