We had plans for a dinner date but, as luck would have it, neither of us made reservations. So, we ended up driving over the border to JB in search of a good meal. After what felt like hours of cruising around Johor, we stumbled upon a hidden gem—a Yakiniku restaurant called The Wagyu Tavern.

They offer an all-you-can-eat buffet with both yakiniku grill and hot pot, plus oysters, all for 498RM per person (usual price is 798RM). Starving, we decided to give it a try! (Note: went here on Aug 2023)

As we walked in, the friendly staff greeted us and showed us to our table. The interior was dark and upscale, setting a cozy yet elegant mood for the evening. The first thing they brought out was a golden cow filled with different cuts of meat, ranging from sirloin to togarashi and more.

After sampling all the available meats, you can order your preferred cuts. If you’re a fan of soft, tender meat that melts in your mouth, go for the uchihira cuts—seriously, it’s like butter! Just make sure not to overcook it.

The tatic to eat your money worth is to avoid all the cheaper ingredients and drinks. Remember to balance meat with vegetable so you don't feel too overwhelmed.

The hot pot came with salmon belly, prawns, and scallops—a perfect complement to the rich, fatty grilled meat.

We were offered desserts after the meal, but we were way too full to even think about it. Overall, I felt like this is a great spot for group catch up session.

Comparing with the food places I've ate and the price point, I do think the Seoul Restuarant offers a great alternative for better quality cut of meat and location. But you'll definitely need to make a reservation for it.

Note: the dining time is limited to 120 minutes.
