WRITING TIPS I WISH I HAD LEARNED SOONER!🤍

The good old writers block.. we all love it, we’ve all had it. You find yourself at a certain point of your novel asking yourself: “…which direction is this going exactly?” Or, “I literally cannot think of what to write next.”

I’ve found the BEST remedy to help any sort of writers block is to WRITE THROUGH IT!! I know it’s not what anyone wants to hear, but pushing through that block is sometimes what gives us our best work. My advice:

↳ Don’t be afraid to write things you may end up deleting later! There have been plenty of times I’ve written multiple pages only for them to not make the cut in the final draft.

↳ Put your characters in scenarios they wouldn’t normally be in and make them say or do things they wouldn’t normally say or do. This will help you gauge what feels like an innate reaction from them and in turn it will naturally progress the plot line.

↳Write multiple scenarios of them reacting different ways to the situation. Only then will you learn your characters inside and out and by process of elimination, you will learn what you DON’T want, and in turn will learn what you DO want🤍

↳ First drafts aren’t supposed to be pretty or perfect, they are potential.
