Alex Michaelides, author of The Silent Patient, had his newest book released on 1/16/24. I had The Fury on preorder.

His latest book is a tale of toxic friendships, deceit, and murder.

Elliot Chase isn’t fully who he says he is. But neither is Jason or Kate or even Lana.

Elliot Chase is the storyteller or I should say, the play writer. At least, this is what he claims.

Lana is the beautiful, successful actress with loads of money and the perfect life. At least, this is what she allows others to perceive.

Kate is Lana’s best friend. Her ride or die. At least, this is what Lana thinks.

Jason is Lana’s husband. He is good, handsome and successful and has everyone fooled. At least, that’s what he thinks.

But when our four characters find themselves on Aura, Lana’s private Grecian island, one of them ends up dead and all the secrets are revealed.

Their story is masterfully told through second and first person point of view. Michaelides draws the reader into the story as you also become a character. A witness.

In true Michaelides fashion, the entire story has ties and comparisons to Greek mythology and Greek culture. There is also the subtle yet powerful nod to characters from his previous novels.

That being said, it did take me quite a while to finally be intrigued by this book. I was well over halfway before I felt as though the story really picked up. When there was about a third of the book left, I couldn’t put it down.
