Iโ€™ve come a long way in improving my self esteem and body imageโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ It was an uphill battle but I love myself more now than I ever have ๐Ÿฅณ

It wasnโ€™t easy seeing myself put on so much weight over the years and seeing my body change so drastically as I grew older ๐Ÿฅน But Iโ€™m happy to say that I have (somewhat) come to terms with and LOVE my body for what it does for me ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

Growing up, I always faced criticism from my parents, relatives even dance instructors (I did ballet for a long timeโ€ฆ before playing basketball ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ) to even friends.. Especially when I started to take sports more seriously, as I gained the most weight from hitting the gym/playing basketball! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช

Some things I feel helped me with gaining confidence and improving my body image would be:

1) CHOOSING THE PEOPLE AROUND ME WISELY

Whether friends or partners.. I have heard all sorts of nonsense about my size and body over the years, telling me to lose weight or that Iโ€™m getting fat or that my belly rolls and double chins are showing??? Ridiculous but Iโ€™m sure everyone has people like that in their lives.. and the best thing Iโ€™ve done is to CUT THESE PEOPLE OUT ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Bye! My (amazing) friends now donโ€™t call me fat but call me THICC muscle MOMMY (iโ€™m kidding but at the same time not really) SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE THAT HELP YOU FEEL GOOD ๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ’‹

2) WEAR CLOTHES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL PRETTY/COMFY! LOOK CUTE, DO YOUR MAKEUP, WHATEVER!!!!!

Look good feel good queensโ€ฆ. ๐Ÿ˜˜ Find whatever flatters your body type and not whatever you see on models or tiktok girlies.. I used to watch this trend where people tested out if it was a fit or if they were just skinny.. And felt better because some clothes look better on other people and thatโ€™s okay! Flaunt whatever makes you feel good, show your ASSETS, or not! Up to you! As long as youโ€™re comfy and feel pretty, youโ€™re set!

3) STAYING ACTIVE! move!

I tell myself that my body looks this way because Iโ€™m strong and cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž Since I play basketball and go to the gym, I know Iโ€™ll never look like the Pinterest Clean Pilates Girl but I know Iโ€™ll kick their asses given the chance (jk theyโ€™ll outrun and outstretch me but everyone got pros n cons lorh close one eye) ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž I love my body for the things it can do for me!!!!! I donโ€™t wanna lose weight or look skinny anymore, I just wanna get stronger, faster and COOLER ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Oh, how Iโ€™ve grown ๐Ÿ’ช

Improving my body image and self esteem was a long journey with a lot of crying and comparing ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€ although Iโ€™m not 100% in love with how I look now, itโ€™s gotten much much much better than when I was younger.. I have more asses to kick and more plates to lift ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ JIA YOU EVERYONE!
