Recently I read that feeding your dog a raw diet can increase their life span by 3 years… THREE YEARS!
I immediately started researching recipes to make for my dog. While he, as an 80lb German Sheppard, has been mostly kibble fed with the addition of raw meat for the last 4 years, I needed to start by introducing a more raw diet slowly. Now he’s on half raw, half kibble diet and soon we will switch him full raw diet!
Below is the recipe he has been absolutely loving❤️
This recipe will make about 14 cups.
Portion sizes vary per dog.
Rule of thumb: 1 cup kibble = 1 cup of this food
INGREDIENTS:
* Ground Turkey (3lb)
* Rice (6 cups dry)
* Broccoli (about one head)
* Carrots (2-4)
* Optional: peas
* Optional: Native Pet Omega 3 Oil
Steps:
1. Start by chopping up your vegetables
2. Cook the ground turkey on medium heat for about 10 minutes (no seasonings), boil your rice and cook for about 10-15 minutes (follow box instructions), and sauté your veggies until softer
3. Combine all ingredients into a large bowl
4. Portion out ingredients (this will be specific per dog) into plastic bags for freezer storage.
For my dog, he gets some kibble and some raw food. I then like to add a little water to the bowl to soak into the kibble, and top it with the Omega 3 Oil which is great for skin coat and anti itch.
*pro tip: each day, once you use the one that’s in the fridge, take one out of the freezer for the following day.
