How does drawing help you when you’re feeling anxious? ~ Please share so others can benefit from your comments. 🤗Drawing can help you relieve stress because it allows you to give yourself some space from unwanted thoughts and engage in an activity you can control. You decide what it is you want to draw and what colors to add to your design. While focused on the creative process, you aren’t giving energy to your anxiety and it helps to clear your mind. Drawing also relaxes the body, grounding you into place and helping to regulate your emotional state.
When distressing thoughts begin to overwhelm you, drawing offers a way to focus your attention on something calming. You become so enveloped in your creativity because all your attention is focused on your artwork, on each stroke you take, what details will you add next and what colors you want to choose.
Sketching, doodling, or coloring provides a way to get some peace from disquieting thoughts. I hope this doodle idea helps you as much as it has helped me. 🤗💛
I keep in mind that managing anxiety is a process. What works for me may not work for others. It may take time to figure out what works best for you to help you cope with your anxiety.
