I was super excited to have gotten a Carbone reservation as it is super difficult to get and everyone raves about everything about the restaurant. To be honest, I did not think it lived up to the hype. We started off with the tableside Cesar which was really good, but was a Cesar salad. The croutons were almost like garlic bread. For main courses we got the veal parm, meatballs, and spicy rigatoni. Everything was good, but not out of this world. In my opinion, the food was the equivalent of any decent Italian restaurant in NYC. Everything was also super greasy, and that took over a lot of the dishes. It is also super expensive- this meal was $300 total without tip for the one appetizer, three mains, including two aperol spritzes. The vibe was super traditional but elegant, and I would go back just for that experience along with the service being amazing. In my opinion, if you have the opportunity to go/are invited definitely go, but don't expect a life-changing meal, there are much better restaurants in NYC.
