What do you think?

My friend is a dermatologist and she has essentially said a majority of skincare products are a scam. She said that a simple unscented cleanser and moisturizer without dye are really the only products that you need to be purchasing at the store, and that any other product that would really be effective for the skin would be something that needs to be prescribed by a dermatologist, like tretinoin. I didn’t find this hard to believe, and fully agree with avoiding all scents and dyes, but it’s still baffling that the skincare industry is as massive as it is if most of the products aren’t actually making a difference for people. What do you think?
