AM PILATES - is this the studio for you?

For the curious trying out pilates, here's my review with AM PILATES. A studio at JE that just opened in May/June this year!!!

*disclaimer, I attended their classes during the trial period when they legit just opened. I tried 4 classes with them*

PROS:

✅️ Relative near to MRT (Jurong East) 10mins max walking time (unsheltered)

✅️ One of the few pilates studios in the West

✅️ Attentive instructors, will correct posture and check on you during class

✅️ Receptionist present - to check you in for class, answer your questions/show you around for first-timers

✅️ ONE OF THE BEST SHOWERING/CHANGING ROOM- equipped with soap/shampoo, hair dryer, tissues & bath towels. Ample showering facilities. They have separate changing rooms and shower rooms and toilets (no need to squeeze and wait!). Waiting area has ample seats.

✅️ small workout towel provided

✅️ appropriate class size 8-10 pax

✅️ new studio means clean equipment and good for post-workout photos

CONS:

☹️ limited class types - only 3 types of classes: Introduction, Essential Strength, Active Mobility. and you cannot gauge level of practice required with the later 2 class types.

☹️ VERY LIMITED TIMESLOTS - when they first started, they didn't have much classes on weekends (which supposedly is when most ppl can actually turn up). and their classes timing afterwork is till 7/8 which is quite early compared to other studios.

☹️ Lack of variation between the 3 class types. We didn't get to try out other equipment (straps were rarely used) or move sets/not much difference between the 3. I find myself doing very similar things between these 3 classes which was kinda strange.

☹️ trial price was cheap ($58 for 4 passes) but the eventual package is twice the price ($30+ per class).. not too worth

Add-ons:

🟡 booking is done through an app (you need to download an app)

🟡 female only class

🟡 tip: choose the reformer at the front row so you can see your form better in the mirror!

🤔 my verdict.. I didn't end up continuing with them. The class timings and types didn't justify the $30 pricing despite the fact that the location ( at the west) and facilities are really good. But my last class with them was in Jul hence which means that things could have changed/improved!! Try them out if they have the super good trial price!! 👍
