i made $300 selling my clothes?? 😱😱

i’m sure you’ve heard often that luggage market is a thrift heaven - and also a great place to clear A LOT your secondhand clothes. but if you’re a first time seller or considering to book a booth, luggage market can seem really overwhelming 😢

i’ve done luggage market twice (oct’22 and apr’23), once with friends and once on my own, here’s my ultimate hacks on how to do luggage market right and resell most of your clothes!!

1️⃣ Get there MUCH earlier than 11am

🕚 officially, luggage market starts at 11am. however, you’ll want to get there earlier, at 9.30am or even 10, as there are already many buyers there waiting to get the first pick of your clothes. i reached at 10am and there were already 4-5 sellers set up, and i made $70 before 11am 😱

💲 you’ll be expected to lower your price as the day goes by to compete with other sellers around you too, the earlier you can clear your clothes, the better!

2️⃣ bring a variety of clothes, not just female apparel

👚 at my first luggage market, i only brought my own clothes (tops, dresses, bottoms), but there are many people looking for shoes, bags, JEANS/DENIM SHORTS (especially this) and MENSWEAR! i managed to sell quite a few of my dad’s clothes there as only a few sellers have men’s clothes.

🧦 having clothes in a variety of sizes will also help to cater to more buyers, so do check if your friends/family would like to contribute to your pile!

3️⃣ bring clothes you’re willing to sell for $2-$5, and small change

🛍️ apart from bags and shoes, it will be difficult to sell clothes for above $5-$6 (based on my own experience), so try to bring only apparel you’re willing to let go for $2-$5 price range! be prepared that some buyers may bargain.

4️⃣ prepare signages for your buyers!

✍️ i brought cardboard and markers to make signs (3 for $10), and bring some extra so you can change/lower your prices as the day goes by!

LASTLY.. it gets tiring 😢 get someone to help out too! luggage market can get tiring as you’re dealing with buyers non stop. a pro tip is to share booths with a friend so you can split the booth price and take turns for breaks if needed!
