In this book, Catherine came up with her own philosophy called True Fun and Fake Fun.

True Fun, according to her, was described as the confluence of playfulness, connection and flow.

We can achieve True Fun if we experienced one of these or all three elements mentioned.

Meanwhile, Fake Fun was described as something that we thought bringing up joy and delight (i.e. the activity that we do) but it wasn’t since it didn’t have any of those 3 elements mentioned above (playfulness, connection and flow).

More often than not, technology (i.e. smartphones, social media, FOMO) was the biggest culprit of making life much more difficult.

We were always in a constant battle with ourselves and our own insecurities that emerged from the life projection of other people.

This, was considered as Fake Fun due to the fact that it turned us into autopilot mode and also the act of scrolling mindlessly.

The author went deeper into explaining each of the elements to further clarify the concept of True Fun.

She believed and advocated the concept that people should incorporate it on a daily basis to attain joy in life.

Catherine also mentioned that we should seek more connection and fun in life by engaging with other people while doing activities that could create playfulness, connection and flow (the elements of True Fun).

What the author was trying to convey was that we should have more fun, be happy and worry less.

Play or do any activity that could spark joy and delight in us without being self-conscious or holding judgment towards ourselves.

There were 10 chapters altogether.

The first few were adequately informative with numerous facts backed by science.

However, as I went along, it got redundant and too many unnecessary details about the author personal experiences in emphasizing the True Fun concept.

Overall, an insightful read as I could relate to many of the points stated except the redundant and repetitive part that spoiled my reading experience.

Personal rating: 3/5🌟
