as a digital artist I will share my tips with you if you are an artist or wanting to be an artist. everyone has their own tips and ticks but these are mine.

🎨first tip is AI is not art. if you use AI it does not make you an artist just a cheater and someone to take the easy way out. just know the digital art community will look down upon you. this is an argument for another time

🎨what devices do you want to use and programs.

you can use PC, laptop, tablet and yes even your phone. I highly recommend two programs which is procreate and clip studio paint. if you want easy I say procreate, clip studio paint is more advanced but it all depends on you.

please know that procreate only works with apple tablets and phones and best pens to use are apple pens. please do NOT get amazon pens they make things harder.

if you want to use a PC I recommend getting any adorable drawings tablet/drawing monitor my choice in gold quality is getting XP-Pen. yes I have used many other tablets other than xpen the one thats lasted me is XP-Pen devices.

for free art programs I know people use paint tool said and one called Gimpy. these are both great starters for artist who barely getting into it.

🎨 practicing and tutorials

when being an artist its all style and what you are aiming for. for me I'm going for cartoon pinups.

but the best tutorials you can find are on YouTube, Pinterest, Tumblr, TikTok, and Google. another personal favorite is Quick pose.

it's best to always book mark and save pictures that inspire your creativity.

please do not feel guilty when doing tutorials, it does not make you less of an artist it actually makes you more of an artist because you are willing to learn new techniques and ways to make drawing easier and more satisfying.

I know a lot of artist hate practicing but practice makes perfect and not everything can be perfected first try. SO PLEASE PRACTICE. make time for it.

🎨burnt out

a lot of artists get burnt out so fast or over time this is normal. as an artist reminds yourself to take breaks spend time, clean up, play games, read a book, do some self care. some burn outs can last longer than others so don't feel bad.

if you feel it's last to long and you want to draw i suggest doing small silly doodles of a character or practice eventually it will give you enough energy to finish something again

🎨building your following.

if you wanna post art and sell it or maybe you just wanna post art that's fine I highly recommend do not draw for your fans. Drawing for only views will bring nothing but headache and pain.

if you draw for yourself it makes things easier and trust me people will follow and would want to buy your merch. I seen this happen to many times where the people draw for the money and following and it ends up to them complaining about their income and why no one following them so on so forth.

drawing your passion will bring people because it will show in your art

I recommend posting 4 times a week, tag your post as much as you can, the more tags the better. I know some people say only 5 but don't listen to them, go nuts you want to reach out to other,

keep active so I recommend posting in your stories, of random things like pets, thoughts, trends.

try doing art challenges and joining groups and communities. another way in doing this is by commenting and starting conversations with other artists to make mutuals so they can see how cool you are. if you share their post they might share yours. commutation is key to being an amazing artist.

uploading speed paints are another way to show people youre legit.

one thing to avoid is posting non art things. remember people followed you for your art. it's ok to share who you are outside of being an artist but you also don't want to make your art profile a personal profile especially if you're selling art.

I recommend making another side account for that. also good for a backup

when selling your work you may wanna post packing videos or nice pictures of your products, ifs it's commission you may wanna do a spreadsheet of your prices. try to post like once or twice a week of your products so people can remember you sell things.

🎨where to post where to sell.

Its always good to have more than one platform Incase one shuts down.

places I recommend is, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Blue sky, threads, Tumblr, discord groups, and even here on lemon 8

just remember to tag your work!

where to sell? well it's on you personally I use Kofi. kofi like Etsy but the profit goes mostly towards you, also on kofi you can post your art, and commission info

if you wanna try other more professional platforms there also Shopify and Etsy but keep in mind Etsy does take a huge portion from you and Shopify is based off of subscription

one website I avoid and DO NOT RECOMMEND is red bubble. red bubble is known to scam you out of money. the profit youll get back is less of what you made. you can sell a 10 dollar shirt and only get 5cents back I do not recommend it

🎨 dealing with assholes

you may get hate comments like "your art sucks" or something similar. don't let that stop you. instead stand up for yourself or just block/ignore them. you blocking them just shows you have no time for theat negative energy.

as for me I talk back and make them feel stupid like responding with "ok and?? " or "are you paying my bills? no? yea ok your opinion doesn't matter"

if you let them bully you and it shows they'll keep doing it.

🎨keep going

please do not get upset if you don't get views or likes keeps practicing keep posting keep interacting. don't compare yourself to others, if you do use to advantage in trying to improve yourself.

remember draw for yourself not others

think that's it for my tips
